Sunday Smorgasbord

“She won’t bite you.”

This lady gave me some dog treats and said I could feed her dog out of my hand. Without hesitation it snapped at me, making contact with a finger but fortunately not breaking the skin.

I was violating two rules and should have known better:

  1. never trust a woman 🙂
  2. always trust your first impression when you approach a dog with cold yellow eyes wearing a spike collar. 😦
“Infection in Finger”

What is this lady engrossed in?

Her notebook, which I have turned around and inserted in the upper left corner, lists two women born in the 1940s plus their phone numbers. (I have blacked out some info.) Sandwiched in between the names is a treatment for paronychia – which I looked up and is indeed a type of yeast infection of the skin around the nails.

Her recommendation?

  1. go to urgent care
  2. patient should go to Bardmoor
  3. warm soaks plus topical mupirocin

Off the Road

The curious occasionally wander by Jack Kerouac’s old house and snap a picture with their cell phone.

This is where he was living with his mother when he died from liver cirrhosis on Oct. 21, 1969, in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Below, a dedicated pilgrim stoops down ‘on the road’ to take a sidewalk-level picture with small camera.

Pic du Jour #39: “3 Nudes”

A man walks around displaying a large mounted photograph to outdoor diners & casual Thursday-night gawkers on a busy promenade in the upscale waterfront district of St. Petersburg.

The vintage picture shows three nude females approaching the iconic St. Pete Pier, which has recently been demolished.
